Therapy for Chronic Pain Using Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT)
You’ve tried everything—doctors, physical therapy, maybe even surgery. Still, the pain lingers.
You're not making it up.
You're not broken.
But there might be more going on than just what's happening in your body.
If you’re living with chronic pain, and nothing seems to help, it might be time to try something different—something that looks at the nervous system, your brain, and your story.
I Believe You. Your Pain is Real.
I’ve been through chronic pain myself, which ultimately led me to a dive deep into the science of the brain and nervous system's role in pain. After grappling for years with mysterious symptoms, I was diagnosed with a heritable connective tissue disorder with widespread systemic implications, including pain and fatigue. This diagnosis explained so much of my experience, but also rocked my world. I historically had always pushed through and paid for it later. I was now frozen and afraid to trust my body. My pushing through just wasn't working anymore.
Over time I learned to listen to my body and let go of the fear and judgement. I learned how my brain and nervous system being on high alert made me feel worse. I added training in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) to my foundation as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. These approaches help your nervous system feel safe and regulated again and calm your primal brain's warning signals. These tools have helped me feel better, and now I can help you find relief and reconnect with your body, so you can get back to living your life.
Pain Reprocessing Therapy is mind-body approach that helps people reduce or even eliminate chronic pain by rewiring the brain’s pain pathways. It’s grounded in neuroscience and is evidence based.
Here’s the gist:
Sometimes, the brain gets stuck in a loop, interpreting signals in the body as dangerous—and sounding the pain alarm when it is not needed. PRT helps teach the brain that you’re safe now, and it can turn the volume down on pain.
Somatic Experiencing (SE) helps your body release stress, trauma, tension, and built up emotions that may be stuck. It’s a gentle way to work with your nervous system—so you feel more connected, grounded, alive, and at ease in your body.
