I've traveled a meandering road to become a therapist. This was not something I set out to do, but now that I'm here, I love helping others find their inner strength and wisdom.  I decided to pivot toward becoming a clinician after my own healing journey that started with postpartum depression and anxiety and continued with learning to manage an invisible illness and chronic pain.  Before private practice, I started out in grass roots social justice work and non-profits working with children and families from all walks of life.  I've worked at a local women's mental health clinic and at a large university counseling center.  Now I have the privilege of helping others in their healing journey in a way that feels authentic, deep, and connected. My practice is based on Somatic Experiencing and Polyvagal Theory.  These body-based, trauma informed approaches help you learn about how to regulate your autonomic nervous system and learn to trust your body  and not simply be ruled by your thoughts or worries.  Other frameworks I often utilize are Self Compassion , Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Pain Reprocessing Therapy.  While I have continued work to do, I strive to be anti-racist and LGBTQIA+ affirming. I've lived in Charlottesville for 20 years and raised two children here who are now young adults.  When I'm not at my office I enjoy spending time outdoors, live music, kayaking, reading, snuggling with my two beagles, and indulging in a nap.
